YO! I’m Steph from your middays/afternoons/anything else you want me to do.  I started in radio on a rock station LAAATE at night which was a blast! I got a lot of drunk parties calling to chat. Very interesting…you probably don’t even know you called me. WINK! Then I went to a light rock/easy listening station and the ever infamous POWER92!!! Oh yea…I did all three stations at the same time. YAYAAA! It was a lot of fun! I love to be kept busy. I did mornings on Power for about 3 ½ years which was sooo much fun and I miss it at times…which is why I don’t mind filling in for the beautiful Amanda anytime she needs a break.  I’m kind of the “den mother” of sorts for our Street Team. I grew up in Peoria and graduated from Limestone Community High School. Yes, I was a cheerleader so BLEH!  I get asked that a lot for some reason. I also played soccer…that’s pretty much my high school experience! Yea yea…shoulda studied harder…blahblahblah.  I went to ICC for 2 years after that and studied Elementary Education. I wanted to be a teacher. Then I went to ISU for Ahhh semester…couldn’t decide on a major there (tossed around El. Ed. and communications) so I came home. I applied for a secretary position at AAA Radio Group and they told me they wanted me as an intern instead. The rest is history.  Just so you know…getting into radio is NOT easy. I had to do a lot of, well, bitch work, as an intern. You definitely pay your dues.

 

Before I found my passion that is radio I taught gymnastics. It’s unbelievable the gratification you get from teaching a child. So, recently, I started teaching again at night.  The kids are so amazing. I was a gymnast for about 10 years before I started coaching at 15yrs old. Not bad for a first job.  I, still, teach to this day! I can’t get away from it. “The children are our future. Teach them well and LET them lead the way…” sorry. Whitney Houston. Gotta love the crack fiend.
